Is it a good fit?
Therapy is like buying shoes. If they’re too small they’ll hurt and if they’re too big you won’t be able to dance in them; but when they fit just right you feel like a whole new person!

FAQs
How do I know if I need therapy?
It can be hard to determine whether therapy will benefit you when you're thriving professionally or academically. However, sometimes, your achievements can signify other emotional barriers hidden in plain sight. High-functioning anxiety and high-functioning depression are often overlooked with expressions like “You don’t look depressed/anxious.” You’re successful and may not speak or act in the depressive/anxious manner displayed in popular media. Your success also makes others assume “you have nothing to be sad about.” You might even question your feelings because you are indeed successful and can’t pinpoint a reason you’d be sad, but inside, something just doesn’t feel right.
If you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, highly stressed, fearful of failure, obsessing over perfection, or lacking confidence, therapy is for you. If you’re losing sleep because you can’t shut your brain down and feeling irritable, angry, or sad most of the time, therapy is for you. If thinking about or coping with an issue takes up at least an hour each day, causes embarrassment or makes you want to avoid others, has caused your quality of life to decrease, has negatively affected school, work, or relationships, or you’ve developed habits to cope with the issue, therapy is for you.
Healing Hues provides a safe space to explore, address your concerns, and make changes that can lead to contentment, confidence, and a more fulfilled life.
How long does therapy last?
Therapy is a personal and unique experience. No two healing journeys look the same, so there is no rule regarding the number of sessions. While weekly and bi-weekly sessions usually last 3-6 months, it’s typical that clients decide to continue receiving therapy services. Together, we will work toward your goals and determine when you have gained the benefits of therapy. Our desire is to help you improve your self-awareness and squash limiting beliefs so you can be equipped to live a fulfilled and balanced life and confidently say that therapy was beneficial.
What’s the cost and do you accept insurance?
Healing Hues accepts Maryland Medicaid and cash-pay clients.
Individual therapy sessions are 45 - 60 minutes in length, while extended therapy sessions are offered at 90 minutes in length. 45-minute sessions are an investment of $160; 60-minute sessions are an investment of $180, while 90-minute sessions are an investment of $220. Therapeutic Yoga sessions are only offered as 90-minute sessions and are an investment of $250.
Each new client must have an initial diagnostic assessment appointment which helps the therapist gain a better understanding of the client’s needs. The initial diagnostic assessment is 90 minutes in length and is an investment of $200. Moving forward your session length is your choice and based on scheduling availability.
***Consultations are free and typically last 15 - 30 minutes.***
Payment in full is expected at the start of each session. Healing Hues accepts Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, and Health Spending Account (HSA). Healing Hues provides all cash-pay clients with reimbursement invoices to submit to their insurer, monthly.
Insurance requires clients to have a diagnosis and often limits the number sessions the client can receive. This doesn’t always work to the maximum benefit of the client. However, we are aware that there are some who need some assistance when paying for mental health services. Therefore, Healing Hues does not accept private insurance at this time, but DOES accept Maryland Medicaid/Medical Assistance. We’re happy to provide those carrying private insurance with a statement of paid services, which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is recommended that clients contact their insurance provider to explore this option, prior to scheduling their first session.

What’s the cancellation policy?
Your session time is set aside specifically for you as Healing Hues does not double book clients in one time slot. Additionally, there is a considerable amount of preparation to ensure clients receive the best care possible while in session. Therefore, clients are required to notify the therapist, either by phone call or email, of a cancellation at least 48 hours in advance. If a session is cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled session the client will remain responsible for half of the scheduled session fee. If a session is cancelled within 24 hours or if the client is a “no show” the client remains responsible for the full scheduled session fee. Should a client arrive late or leave the session early the client will remain responsible for the full scheduled session fee.
We understand unforeseen emergencies happen and offer grace for those events at the discretion of the therapist.
What is Trauma Conscious Yoga?
The mind of the trauma survivor and highly stressed often experiences: hopelessness, loneliness, helplessness, depression, anxiety, distrust for others/overly guarded, distrust for self, resentment, insecurity, dissociation, shame, guilt, exaggerated sense of responsibility, pessimism, anger, rage, addiction, risky behaviors, life-threatening behaviors, suicidal ideations, hyperarousal, eating disorders, perfectionism, and secrecy.
The body trauma survivor and highly stressed often experiences: tenseness, tightness, stiffness, numbness, shortened psoas muscle (triggering fear and anxiety), exhaustion, shakiness, inflammation, digestive issues, heart and blood pressure issues, difficulty breathing, and poor vagal tone.
Truma-Conscious Yoga is the practice of yoking the body with the mind and spirit while bringing awareness to your somatic responses to stress and trauma. This form of yoga focuses largely on asanas (postures/body movement) and breath to build healthy vagal tone in the brain and decrease reactivity to stress.
Do I have to do yoga?
While yoga is recommended and personalized to fit each client’s level of comfortability and mobility, it is not required.
